Khmer Cooking 101
As promised here are the pictures of my wonderful day as a Khmer Cook. If you come to visit I would love to prepare a traditional meal for you . One funny quote of the day from our teacher was " don't try this at home it is dangerous!" I thought that was the point, to make it at home?? We made 4 dishes in 8 hours It was a lot of work.
Here they are! The ingredients for making curry. I always wondered how to make the stuff. Its our favorite you know. Notice the one pepper, looks small but boy was it hot!! My first week in Cambodia I rubbed one of those guys in my eye. Not Fun I assure you, do not try that at home!!

Tricia is a Team member this is her 3rd year in Cambodia and 6th year in Asia. She is such a blessing to me and a great cook! I'm thinking our teacher was real impressed with our cooking skills.
This is a poser shot. Notice I'm not actually cooking anything yet also notice how we get increasingly sweaty as the day progressed.
Our wonderful teacher was a genious in the kitchen! He patiently helped us cook, did our dishes and cleaned up after us all day. Each meal came out perfect and he never needed a cook book, WOW!
Here is a group shot of our "class". Heng, Tricia, Tara, Victoria,Laura, Rowen. This realy was such a nice day. I was so appreciative of great girls to go go with. (Rowen was an extra but a real nice fella). I am sure that we will see more of our Khmer teacher. He works at a local restaurant and is very interested in continuing a friendship. Chris plans to help him set up his own blog later this week. He speaks great English, and it doesn't hurt that he is a fabulous cook!

Glad to see that you are taking up local customs. Cooking classes are sooo fun! Question: what is grocery shopping like?
Really want to know how well your cooking is :)
Hmm...I seem to remember that time when you rubbed that pepper in your eye. :)
Thanks for keeping in touch - it's great to hear from you. Know that we are thinking about you.
